Join us at a free outdoors concert on the 7th of june!
Published May 31st 2024
We’re keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine and beautiful weather as we invite you to an outdoor concert at Vervet! But if there's one thing we know about June, it's that the weather does as it pleases - so instead of guaranteeing good weather, we guarantee wonderful, warming music this Friday afternoon.
Ánte Niillas Bongo will open the concert at 5:30 PM, followed by Julie Alapnes accompanied by Halvard Rundberg, bringing warm tunes to carry you into the evening! This year, just like last year, the summer festival will take place in the surroundings of the Seafood Festival's Seafood Market. Take your time to enjoy what the stalls have to offer around the concert and rejuvenate both body and soul on this early summer evening. Welcome to the Summer Festival!
Julie Alapnes & Halvard Rundberg
Julie Alapnes is an award-winning fiddler, vocalist, and composer with a strong northern Norwegian signature. With solid roots in folk music, she has created her own musical platform where tradition is challenged and energy is given free rein!
Music and the fiddle have taken Julie to every nook and cranny of Norway, but the violin has also given her wings to fly beyond national borders. To mention a few; the Opera House in Cairo, Folk Alliance International in Kansas City, Celtic Connections in Glasgow, and Galle Music Festival in Sri Lanka. Her songs have been used in everything from TV series and films to the opening concert of the Northern Lights Festival and the Arctic Race of Norway.
At the Summer Festival, you’ll have the pleasure of experiencing Julie in collaboration with Halvard Rundberg from Violet Road. Halvard handles the harmonium, guitars, and vocals, making the folk music shine even brighter with a more rock-inspired expression.
Their previous release was nominated for the Spellemann Award in 2022.
