Program 2023
Sinikka Langeland in collaboration with Vokal Nord.
Vokal Nord is a professional choir consisting of singers from Northern Norway. At the Northern Lights Festival they will be presenting a concert entirely devoted to Sinikka Langeland's musical universe, combined with Finnish contemporary music by the composers Jaakko Mäntyjärvi and Einojuhani Rautavaara.
Vokal Nord has chosen to specialize in European early music in addition to contemporary music inspired by Sami musical tradition. In recent years, they have also worked a lot with Kven music, which spurred a curiosity for Finnish music as well. Sinikka Langeland is a Norwegian musician and composer. Her instrument is the Finnish national instrument kantele, but she is also known for runic singing and chanting. She has her ancestry from Karelia, but lives in Finnskogen.
Conductor Anne Gallon is a Finnish musician with many talents; conductor, singer, composer and teacher. She is educated at the Sibelius Academy with a master's degree in conducting from 2022. She currently works and lives in Lyon.
Musical arrangements: Magnar Åm
