Program 2023
Join us when we celebrate 100 years of Tromsø Orchestra Association
Tromsø Orchestra Association has played for kings, queens, prime ministers, crown princes and crown princesses, rich and poor, and for the everyman. Most of all for the everyman in Tromsø and Northern Norway - on all imaginable occasions (and some unimaginable). The orchestra's history is thus closely linked to Tromsø's history. This concert is a journey through the last hundred years of band music and town history. Pupils from the drama line at KongsbakkenVGS guide us through the years with stories about, among other things, Roald Amundsen's memorial service, the girls' place in the corps mijøet and the 17 May celebration in 1940.
The town has now gotten a real symphony orchestra - the largest that has ever played here. If the orchestra continues like this, it will be fun to be a music lover in this town.
– Translated statement from the magazine Tromsø after the official debut concert at Verdensteatret 7th of mars 1924
The stories are accompanied by the jubilee, who offers music from the last hundred years, including the Champagne Gallop and Valdresmarsj.
This is the concert for those who both like band music and for those who like urban history, and the anniversary concert is suitable for both young and old. We congratulate you on your anniversary, and look forward to a hundred new years of music!
Free tickets for children and young people
