Kjetil Bjørnstad

In April 2022, renowned Norwegian pianist Ketil Bjørnstad celebrated his 70th birthday by launching a solo concert tour. During last year, Bjørnstad toured all over Norway. Bjørnstad is constantly exploring melody, rhythm, sound and improvisation. Thus, none of these solo concerts will be the same. They occur in the space between pianist and audience, between piano and concert hall.

The solo concerts have always been the basis of my musical career. They mark the beginning and the end. Alone by the piano, I get a distinctive and close contact with the audience that influences the musical choices along the way. The instrument and the acoustics in the venue also help to make each and every concert something very special. Each concert will be different from the last. I am happy to be able to start this concert series, and also to be able to read some poems, as I did at the very beginning of my career. - Ketil Bjørnstad
