Mimmi Tamba returns to Tromsø as one of the artists in recidence for the Northern Lights Festival 2025! On top of that, we’re lucky to have her closing the festival with music from her critically acclaimed albums Semper Eadem and Titanic. Semper Eadem was nominated for both the Spellemann and Edvard Prizes. In 2023, the performance based on the album was staged on the main stage at The Norwegian Theatre and won the Hedda Award for Best Musical Theatre. Titanic was named one of the best albums of 2023 by Dagsavisen.
Mimmi has long been waiting for the perfect opportunity to perform a concert in her hometown, and now it's here. She’ll be joined on stage by dancers, a string quartet, and a full band. She describes her music as "renaissance pop"—a term that encompasses both the visual and musical world her releases exist within. It transcends genres, drawing inspiration from pop, rock, folk, and soul.
Mimmi has a truly unique ability to connect with her audience, taking them on a journey through theatrical elements. She has been inspired by Queen Elizabeth I and the Renaissance era. She is passionate about breaking out of her own stereotype, shedding facades, and using her full potential.
The performance is in collaboration with our friends at Musikk i Nordland, who are providing string players and production assistance.
