A full night with the Norrbotten Big Band and Ellen Andersson celebrating Broadway with all its jazz musicians through the ages.
Say "Broadway" and the associations immediately take us to New York's big city buzz with vibrant street life and flashing neon signs. For more than a century, the street has been renamed the world's largest theater district, where not least an endless number of beloved musicals have met audiences in successful sets.
Now, jazz singer Ellen Andersson, the conductor and organizer Mats Hålling and the Norrbotten Big Band meet to pay tribute to their interpretations of the music treasure Broadway has given us and which inspired jazz musicians of all times.
In a short time Ellen Andersson has established herself as one of the most successful jazz singers in Sweden. The debut album Be Seeing You was announced in 2017 as the best Swedish jazz edition by the Orchestra Journal and was rewarded with their award Gyllene Skivan.
The same year she received Sweden's Radio P2 award Jazz Cat as Newcomer of the Year.
With great love for the repertoire, Ellen Andersson seamlessly moves between the intimate and the grand, the serious and the playful, the written and the improvised. All with a great measure of musical integrity.
The organizer, composer and conductor Mats Hålling is one of Sweden's foremost and most committed. He collaborates with a large number of artists and orchestras in and outside Sweden, and his events have been recorded on twenty albums, some of which have also been rewarded - both with Grammy nominations and the orchestra magazine's prestigious Golden Disc.
In recent memory lives his recent collaboration with the Norrbotten Big Band where he stood as organizer and conductor during a highly appreciated tour with Lena Willemark, Trio X and folk music group Väsen.
