Experience one of Norways best saxophone players together with The Vienna Chamber Symphony
The audience at The Northern Lights Festival have for several years known saxophone player Ola Asdahl Rokkones and his ability to charm his audience with his concerts. Both with his jazz and classical music.
Earlier this year he released his latest album «Norwegian Saxophone» where The St. Petersburg Northern Sinfonia played the saxophone concerts to Martin Romberg, Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen og Kjell Habbestad.
And Rokkones is an artist that is good at collaborating with ensembles. And for his concert at The Northern Lights Festival, he got a real treat for you.
Last year he was contacted by the one and only Wiener Kammersymphonie. They wanted to do something with the Tromsø artist. A request like that can make almost everyone speechless.
Wiener Kammersymphonie is a string quartet who has grown bigger almost every year since their beginning in 2006. Their trademark is how they presents symphonic music in chamber style.
- It is an absolute honor to be contacted by a international ensemble at their level! We have big plans for both Europe and elsewhere in the world, Rokkones says.
When the opportunity came Rokkones immediately ordered a whole new piece of music by the Northern Norwegian composer Alexander Aarøen Pedersen. The title is «The Heart, it Soars» and will be presented for the first time at The Northern Lights Festival.
- Alexander Aarøen Pedersen is a young composer from Storsteinnes witch is already well known outside the Norwegian borders. He have worked with several of the biggest orchestras and movie composers in Hollywood! I will not be surprised if we see him on the credits to a coming blockbuster in the near future. This piece of music for saxophone and strings definitely has hit potential!
