Both Sarah-Jane and Juhani have active solo careers as musicians and composers, and together they have participated in several major projects across genres and borders. Their music springs from the rhythmic drive of folk music, incorporating elements from experimental jazz, contemporary music and world music.

Sarah-Jane Summers is one of Scotland's foremost fiddle players, trained in the old fiddle style from The Highlands. She has a master's degree in Norwegian folk music from the Norwegian Academy of Music. Juhani Silvola is a versatile guitarist and producer, as well as a renowned composer of electroacoustic contemporary music. Silvola is originally from Finland, but grew up in Tromsø.

This concert is a commissioned work for the Northern Lights Festival 2022, with a subsequent tour in collaboration with Scene Nord. The duo along with the string quintet from Scene Nord represents six different nationalities. Together they create a soundscape that speaks to the body, soul and intellect, and takes the listener on a journey through raging storms, idyllic sunrises, psychedelic flights, night strolls and wild rave parties.

This concert is in collaboration with our friends at Scene Nord.
