"The Blessed Ones" Awakens Sounds in Slumber

The old fiddlers have fallen silent, and Susanne Lundeng is now one of the senior fiddle players in her traditional region of Salten and Lofoten. She has long missed hearing and playing with the elders she met in her youth. This project stems from a desire to highlight our shared musical heritage through an intimate meeting between fiddlers, singers, the duo, and the audience.

The concert will be a symbiosis of Susanne, Nils-Olav Johansen, and archival recordings of old fiddlers and women's voices from Salten and Lofoten. Through sounds, phrases, and single notes from traditional tunes and songs, each musician retains their voice and individuality, while performing new music composed by Susanne.

For the first time, fiddlers and singers who lived in the same era but in different places will "play together"—and Susanne will join them!
