Program 2024
A musical journey through classical, folk music and improvisation.
Sander Tingstad is a classical violinist and folk musician. In his project "Kunstmusikken & Folkesjela" he combines folk music and art music in a unique and personal way. His debut album Opphav from 2022 has received excellent reviews, and was named one of the year's best albums in Klassekampen. This time he is joined on stage by Berit Opheim, Frode Haltli and Sebastiaan Molenaar.
The main work and the first part of the concert will be the premiere of Lasse Thoresen's Fra naturens bok, a commissioned folk musical work for violin, folk song, accordion and melodic percussion. The theme of the piece is nature as a symbolic force in the human mind and soul. Nature is not just a thing out there, however precious it is. Natural phenomena – everything from moonlight to sunshine and storms – resonate in feeling, imagination, dream, myth and belief.
The second section invited the audience on a journey between folk music, classical and improvisation. All the performers are known for their versatility and creative work across different genres, and there will be both classical pieces and early music with a folk musical approach,as well as more traditional folk music.
On stage: SanderTingstad (violin), Berit Opheim (vocal), Frode Haltli (accordeon), Sebastiaan Molenaar (percussion)
Duration: 90 min, incl. intermission
