Program

Official Opening: Peer Gynt

We open this year's festival with a theater concert in collaboration with the Arctic Philharmonic and Hålogaland Teater. Experience Ibsen's iconic Peer Gynt accompanied by Edvard Grieg's music in a completely new production for symphony orchestra and three actors.

Peer Gynt egen 1920x1080

While Edvard Grieg's two orchestral suites were enormous successes, his stage music for Peer Gynt is rarely played in its entirety. Here, however, it forms the framework for our telling of the immortal story of Peer.

What does it mean to be yourself? Who, or maybe what, are you? The theme of Ibsen's national epic is well known and it still resonates with us.

During the hour-long performance, we meet Peer, Solveig and mother Åse, as well as The Green-clad, The Mountain King amongst others. All characters are played by three actors and the story unfolds in the space around and in the orchestra. Epen Mauno is Peer Gynt, while Kristian Fr. Figenschow and soprano Silvia Moi play the other characters.

In collaboration with Hålogaland Teater and Arctic Philharmonic.
