PROGRAM 2026
Free outdoor concerts at Stortorget on Thursday and Friday

During the Northern Lights Festival, we invite you to two days of free concerts at Stortorget! Here you can experience a diverse program of artists from near and far — completely free and open to all.
The concerts on Friday 6 February will be presented in collaboration with Gáisi, the Sami Language Centre.
Friday 6 February is the Sami National Day and this is celebrated all over Tromsø. In Stortorget, it is the artist Manne who opens the feast day. In Glassiglo on Stortorget, his music turns into a playful and evocative children's concert, where young and old get to take part in a journey through sounds and landscapes from the north.
Harald and Stine Maren are daily colleagues in the concert series, Midnattskonsertene, in Tromsø Cathedral. Both have over the years done many different concerts and performances in various genres, and have a wide range in repertoire and style. At this concert they will present a varied and rich programme with a focus on the North Norwegian. The concert will consist of Sami music, shows, own songs and classical music.
What started as a deep dive into his own maritime Sami and Northern Norwegian identity has grown into a warm and personal music project for Herman Rundberg. In the Manne project, he delves into his own background with melodies inspired by traditional joik and sea Sami hymns, in a contemporary musical landscape.
Hildé Länsman is one of Sápmi's strongest vocalists and a proud tradition bearer and champion of the yoke. Tuomas Norvio is a Finnish sound designer, composer, producer and musician. Combining traditional luohti (joik) with fresh Nordic electronic music, Hildán and Tuomas create a space that gives the audience the opportunity to dance, laugh and cry about each other.
Welcome!
