Festival profile, Ragnhild Hemsing, has invited Mathias Eick and Mats Eilertsen to the Northern Lights Festival, with a completely new artistic expression and programme.

In this exciting meeting between musicians from different genres, a repertoire of works from classical music, baroque, Norwegian traditional music and folk tunes, improvisations, interpretations and self-written tunes is drawn.

Ragnhild Hemsing has a long history behind her, both in classical music and traditional music. She draws both the harding fiddle and classical violin and manages in a unique way, like the old fiddlers, to make the fabric her own.

Trumpeter, Mathias Eick, is among the most recognizable soloists to have emerged from the Norwegian jazz scene. His distinctive soundscape and strongly melodic compositions have met tremendous response worldwide.

Mats Eilertsen is one of Norway's most sought-after bassists and bandleaders. Known as a sensitive, melodic and lyrically playing bass player, Eilertsen is a highly respected and admired musician among critics, as well as the public.

The concert is played in a magical setting down on the depths of the Alfheim swimming hall.
