This concert offers a unique opportunity to experience what is happening in the classical music scene, both locally and nationally. In 2026, we present three of the winners from the 2025 Norwegian Youth Music Championships, alongside talented young musicians from the Tromsø School of Music and Performing Arts.
Since its founding in 1965, the Norwegian Youth Music Championships has been a key platform for young musicians aged 12 to 25, helping to bring new classical music talent to the forefront. Sadly, the historic competition was discontinued after the 2025 edition, making this concert especially significant. We are fortunate to present three of the final prize winners: the Sognarekvartetten from Oslo, as well as Tromsø-based musicians Christian Henrichsen (piano) and Maxim Osadchuk (cello).
In addition, we are delighted to showcase a selection of local talents from the Tromsø School of Music and Performing Arts—one of the Northern Lights Festival’s close and valued partners. Each year, many of the school’s students appear on festival stages, and you can also encounter them in the series Rising Stars.
