PROGRAM 2026
New music from Steinar Raknes & Lars Saabye Christensen

Steinar Raknes and Lars Saabye Christensen arrive in Tromsø with fresh music and poetry in their luggage.
For a year or so, the bassist and writer have been working together on the record, Time. The theme revolves around time — how we live in it, use it and experience it passing. The result is a low-key and strong interplay between words and music.
On stage, Lars Saabye Christensen reads his own lyrics, while Steinar Raknes plays double bass and sings. The concert offers a simple and honest communication, where the audience gets to experience the interaction between two strong works — without unnecessary means.
Steinar Raknes is one of the country's most renowned bassists, known from the Norwegian jazz scene since the 90s. He has collaborated with foreign greats such as Chick Corea, and his home country's big stars such as Tord Gustavsen and Ola Kvernberg. He is also known as a songwriter and vocalist in his own project Stillhouse, where he collaborates with Unni Wilhelmsen, among others.
Lars Saabye Christensen is a writer with Danish and Norwegian citizenship. He has always lived in Norway, and writes in Norwegian and the action of his literature takes place in Norway. A prolific and versatile writer, he is one of Norway's most popular writers of his generation. He has collaborated with musicians in several contexts, and is known for his musical performances of his own poems.
