Manchester Collective & Fergus McCreadie trio

Scottish folk tunes meet world-class jazz and strings when the Manchester Collective and the Fergus McCreadie trio come to Tromsø for the first time.
The Manchester Collective is known for its innovative programming, genre-defying collaborations, and engaging concerts. Since its inception in 2016, the ensemble has brought classical works and new music to concert halls, clubs, and festivals alike. Fergus McCreadie has established himself as one of Scotland's leading pianists; he has been nominated for the Mercury Prize and, in 2022, became the first jazz artist ever to win the Scottish Album of the Year award for his album Forest Floor.
The program features new music by Fergus McCreadie and traditional folk tunes arranged by violinist Donald Grant. Together, these award-winning ensembles create a unique encounter between tradition and improvisation—filled with warmth, energy, and optimism, featuring melodies that go straight to the heart.
The Manchester Collective will also perform the concert, Glass Reframed – a tribute to Philip Glass’s 90th birthday, on Sunday, February 14th, in the Sparebanken Banquet Hall. The tour is produced in collaboration with the Ilios Festival in Harstad.
