From Bach to Pink Floyd

The Arctic Philharmonic presents an extraordinary concert to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Northern Lights Festival, joining forces with one of the great icons of chamber music, Artistic Director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Richard Tognetti.
Joining them is violin virtuoso and vocalist Satu Vänskä, also from the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
Richard Tognetti is known for his explosive stage presence and ability to communicate, as well as for concerts that unite classical music with exciting new expressions. As Artistic Director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, he has turned the orchestra into an international phenomenon described by the British newspaper The Guardian as the best chamber orchestra in the world.
Satu Vänskä is a principal violinist and soloist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and has built a truly international career. Vänskä is Finnish, born in Japan, where she began playing the violin at the age of three. Her family moved back to Finland when she was ten, where she continued her violin studies with Pertti Stutinen and went on to the Lahti Conservatory and the Sibelius Academy in Finland.
In this concert, Tognetti leads the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, offering a program consisting of classical masters like Bach and Beethoven, combined with music from artists including Nick Drake and Pink Floyd.
The last time Tognetti and Vänskä were in Tromsø, they and the chamber orchestra played two sold-out concerts at Verdensteatret to cheers and standing ovations.
We look forward to seeing you!
