PROGRAM 2026
Exhibition opening - Living with the Ocean

In collaboration with UiT Norwegian Arctic University and Arctic Frontiers we present the opening of the exhibition Living with the Ocean, with joik by Linus Johnsen.
The street gallery Living with the Ocean challenges audiences with pictures and thought-provoking, sometimes humorous, questions about the past, present, and future of coastal cultures. The purpose is to encourage communities worldwide to rethink their multifaceted relationships with water. Launched in Europe in 2024, this traveling exhibition has already visited three continents.
The exhibition concept has been developed by the Craft-lab and Center for Arctic Humanities at UiT The Arctic University of Norway in collaboration with Sesimbra Maritime Museum in Portugal.
Linus Johnsen (born 2003) is a Norwegian-Sami musician and songwriter from Tjeldsund in Northern Norway. He is known for his energetic stage presence and music that combines progressive pop with elements of joik, a traditional Sami singing technique. In 2025, he won one of three equal main prizes in Pan-ArcticVision, an international song competition for Arctic artists, with an entry that was awarded as "most community-building”.
Linus has previously collaborated with UiTs Center for Arctic Humanities when he opened during Research Days ‘Miracles of Nature’ at the Arctic University Museum.
