Habaneroz takes the stage with a new concept
Today's release offers a demonic violinist, local record releases, 60s-70s vibes, a fusion of Scottish folk music and jazz with world-class musicians, and a Sami performance for the very, very youngest in the family!
Habaneroz celebrates ten years with their most ambitious venture to date: Stormnatt - a concert performance with a large ensemble and Kristian Figenschow himself as narrator. During the Northern Lights Festival, they offer a world premiere and album release in collaboration with Scene Nord and a number of guests on stage. In Stormnatt (stormy night), Spanish rhythms meet northern Norwegian folk music in a dramatic story about a demonic violinist who ends up on the northern Norwegian coast in the 19th century.
The award-winning ensemble Manchester Collective visits Tromsø for the very first time, with two concerts. Together with the Fergus McCreadie Trio, they perform Scottish folk tunes in the face of world-class jazz and strings in the concert The Unfurrowed Field. In Glass Reframed, they celebrate Philip Glass' 90th anniversary!
You can also look forward to LEAGUS releasing their fourth album, Ulli, this November. They invite you to a concert with an expanded band consisting of some of the region's best musicians.
Jan Gunnar Hoff brings Arve Henriksen, Helgeland Sinfonietta and Musikk i Nordland on a musical journey along Vefsna in Vaapstenjanoe – Big River, with a record release during the festival. Americana with a Norwegian soul is provided by Stillhouse Duo, while Date of Birth serves vocal harmonies and psychedelic pop with roots in the 60s and 70s.
On the last day of the festival, you can bring the youngest in the family to the performance Čuovgamáinnas, a performance with joik, movement and light for children from 0 to 5 years. Created by Kompani Bárrogiera
